Medium Wall Adhesive Lined Heat Shrink Tubing

Radiform medium wall heat shrink tubing RMW, is a range of high shrink ratio tube that is lined with a layer of hot melt adhesive, (some sizes are available without adhesive). RMW features a high resistance to UV, chemicals, fungus and copper corrosion. RMW has an operating temperature range of -55°C to 110°C , the tube has a dielectric strength of 20kV/mm and is rated for LV voltages to 1kV. Suitable for overhead and underground power cable joints and terminations, the additional protection of cable glands, corrosion and mechanical protection of conduits or pipes and many other applications where a robust environmental seal from dust and moisture is required.

Advanced Medium-Walled Engineering and Moisture Barrier Protection

Standard thin-wall heat shrink sleeves protect against basic electrical shorting but lack the physical impact resistance and structural durability needed for exposed or underground cabling infrastructure. Our high-performance RMW medium-wall tubing completely overcomes these vulnerabilities through a rugged, cross-linked polyolefin formulation featuring a high shrink ratio that allows the expanded sleeve to conform tightly over complex, irregular profiles and bulky connectors. The majority of our RMW sizes are co-extruded with an advanced internal lining of specialized hot-melt adhesive that liquefies under heat, flowing into all air gaps and crevices. As it cools, this adhesive cures into a permanent, unyielding, and completely waterproof seal that bonds directly to the cable insulation, effectively eliminating the risk of sub-surface tracking faults, water ingress, and dust contamination. For specialized trade applications where an adhesive seal is not required, selected sizes are also stocked in a clean, adhesive-free configuration.

Rigid Engineering Performance for Overhead and Low-Voltage Infrastructure

Achieving long-term structural security across high-exposure utility networks requires components engineered to strict corporate and civil guidelines. The RMW family boasts a formidable dielectric strength of 20kV/mm and is fully rated for low-voltage (LV) power applications up to 1kV. This advanced chemical formulation ensures the tubing remains highly resistant to aggressive industrial chemicals, copper corrosion, and fungus growth, while its advanced UV stabilization prevents degradation under continuous outdoor sun exposure. Operating reliably across an expansive thermal spectrum from a freezing -55°C up to an intense 110°C, this thick-walled material delivers exceptional cut, scratch, and abrasion defense, acting as a rugged mechanical shield that withstands continuous structural stress. The outstanding dielectric properties and physical resilience of the Radiform RMW range make it the industry-standard specification across multiple harsh operational sectors. It is heavily utilized to insulate, seal, and protect overhead and underground power cable joints and inline terminations where direct-burial moisture pressures or open-air weathering would destroy generic components. Furthermore, industrial electrical contractors, civil infrastructure crews, and plumbing specialists rely on this heavy-duty tubing to provide specialised corrosion and mechanical protection for rigid conduits or metal pipes, as well as establishing an extra, airtight security layer over cable glands entering exterior distribution panels.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the advantage of a medium-wall heat shrink over standard thin-wall heat shrink?
Standard thin-wall heat shrink is designed for light-duty indoor wire insulation and simple colour coding. Medium-wall RMW heat shrink features a significantly thicker, more rugged polymer wall that provides superior impact absorption, high resistance to puncture, and heavy-duty abrasion defense, making it the ideal choice for demanding outdoor environments, direct underground burial, and mechanical pipe protection.

Are all sizes of Radiform RMW tubing supplied with an internal adhesive lining?
The majority of our online RMW inventory is manufactured with a thick internal wall of hot-melt adhesive to deliver an absolute, watertight seal. However, to accommodate specific engineering parameters, mechanical sleeve requirements, and specialized electrical assemblies, we do stock selected sizes in a clean variation without the internal adhesive lining.

Can Radiform RMW heat shrink handle high-voltage applications?
Our RMW medium-wall range is officially rated for low-voltage (LV) electrical configurations up to 1kV (1000 volts). Because the material possesses an exceptional dielectric strength of 20kV per millimetre of wall thickness, it provides a massive safety buffer that reliably insulates overhead utility lines, underground mains joins, and commercial distribution feeds against electrical arcing.
